Ducati Malaysia (Next Bike Sdn Bhd) introduces new and improved Ducati Multistrada 1200 DVT priced from RM119,999 (standard) and RM135,999 (S model).
Ducati Malaysia (Next Bike Sdn Bhd) just introduced the new and improved Ducati Multistrada 1200 DVT earlier this evening in its flagship Ducati Centre Petaling Jaya showroom. Two variants were presented starting with the standard Ducati Multistrada 1200 DVT ABS, followed by the higher-spec Ducati Multistrada 1200 S DVT.
Debuted during the EICMA 2014 show as a 2015 model, the new Ducati Multistrada 1200 DVT model now features Ducati’s new and Euro 4-compliant 1,198cc Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) twin-spark V-twin engine. Compared to its predecessor, this new DVT unit offers 10hp more with 160hp @ 9,500rpm whilst peak torque is now rated at 136Nm @ 7,500rpm.
Crucially, the DVT variable valve timing suite has re-optimsed the mill with improved torque and power deliveries across the entire rev-band whilst also enhancing fuel-efficiency further by 8%. The mill is paired with a six-speed transmission that is primed further with a wet slipper clutch feature too.
Complementing the improved powertrain are the enhanced on board electronics. The most critical new item here is the Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) system that enhances the Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL) and the eight-level Ducati Traction Control (DTC) features further.
Besides that, there’s also the new Bosch MSC Cornering ABS system that complements the Brembo-supplied brakes and multi-level ABS, as well as Ride-By-Wire throttle controls with multiple selectable power and riding modes – Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro.
Both the standard and S models offer an electronic cruise control feature. Whilst the standard model gets a decent digital LCD instrument display screen, the higher-spec S is equipped with a larger colour TFT instrument display screen instead, offering Bluetooth connectivity via an iOS/Android smartphone app too.
The other difference between the two lie in their respective suspension systems. Both feature fully adjustable 48mm front forks with the standard bike also getting a Sachs fully adjustable rear monoshock unit. The S model ups the ante as it is primed further with an enhanced version of the Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) semi-active suspension system, offering a wider spectrum of adjustability.
Ducati have also tweaked the new Multistrada’s exterior outlooks, giving it a mild facelift. Subtle differences include the revised front beak and air intakes, the presence of full-LED headlights, revised windscreen and seat adjustment parameters, as well as a cleaner-looking integrated luggage rack.
You can test-ride the new Ducati Multistrada 1200 DVT on Saturday, 20 February 2016 as Ducati Malaysia will be hosting special test-rides throughout the day for customers.
Available as Thai-assembled CKD units, the new Ducati Multistrada 1200 is now open of viewing and purchase through authorised dealers nationwide. Prices start from RM119,999* for the standard Ducati Multistrada 1200 DVT ABS whilst the higher-spec Ducati Multistrada 1200 S DVT starts from RM135,999* instead.
