Akrapovič’s latest addition to its ever-expanding range of Ducati exhaust systems aims to “Release the Beast” lurking within the Italian brand’s latest iconic motorcycle, the Scrambler.
The Ducati Scrambler family is an up-to-date reincarnation of one of the firm’s most distinctive bikes, which has taken the best from the past to create something unique and contemporary. It is this philosophy that Akrapovič has embraced to create a classic-looking exhaust system that adds to the bike’s retro appearance, while increasing performance and adding a fantastic Akrapovič sound.
The new Slip-On Line exhaust range for the Ducati Scrambler is constructed using high-grade titanium and will be available as an ECE- and EC-approved exhaust system or as a non-type-approved Open version. Both have been exclusively developed to serve up even greater performance and increased freedom of expression from the bike’s simple but effective engine. Using specially designed mufflers, which have their origins in the racing world with Grand Prix–inspired conical pipes, the Slip-On Line exhausts are given an even more powerful classic appearance with the outer sleeves coated black for a sporty, uncompromising look.
The Slip-On Line exhaust will deliver a solid and impressive power gain across the rev range, especially from 6,800 rpm onwards. The use of race-inspired materials will also reduce weight, leading to improved handling and manoeuvrability. With a new shaped pre-muffler in stainless steel on the type-approved version, there is also an optional catalytic converter to make it ECE- and EC-approved. All of this is allied to the deep, sporty sound that has been specially tuned to match the bike.
Taking the Ducati Scrambler to the next stage in exhaust-system tuning is the Akrapovič Slip-On Line Open system. Featuring a full titanium link pipe and no pre-muffler, this beautifully shaped exhaust perfectly matches the character of the engine and produces a sharper sound, ideally dedicated to realizing the full enjoyment of the bike. Delivering a strong power gain through the entire rpm range, improving torque, and reducing weight (60% less), this exhaust will certainly take the Scrambler to the next performance level.
Removable noise-reduction inserts have been specially designed for the rear mufflers. These have been created to give the bike a dual character and offer the rider a choice between two different soundtracks for the machine. With the inserts in place, the system is suitable for everyday use, but when removed the sound levels rise, making it perfect for special occasions.
Optional headers are available for both exhausts, created to turn the Slip-Ons into complete systems. Manufactured from high-grade titanium, these superbly finished headers have larger tubes to improve airflow and increase performance to even greater levels, as well as impressively reducing weight in comparison to stock items. Also available as an option is a hand-crafted carbon-fibre heat shield, which is available for both systems to replace the stock version and will add to the overall appearance of the exhaust and the bike.
Perfectly designed to fit on all models in the Ducati Scrambler family, these plug-and-play exhausts need no remapping or other parts and are supplied with a simple-to-follow mounting manual.
The Ducati Scrambler is the perfect blend of tradition and modernity, and it marks a return to the pure essence of motorcycling. With the addition of an Akrapovič exhaust, which is designed to provide increased engine performance and higher torque to the bike, as well as that unique Akrapovič racing roar, the Scrambler will certainly be a machine whose unique looks and superb sound will turn heads.
