Most of us already knew about the availability of the Yamaha MT-25 in Indonesia, but in Thailand, they just got a much more powerful version of it with the name Yamaha MT-03 ABS. This a predicted marketing by Yamaha since they already introduced the YZF-R3 in Thailand as opposed to the YZF-R25 in Indonesia and Malaysia. The YZF-R25 and YZF-R3 share the same frame and accessories, except the higher capacity engine at 321cc as compared to the 249cc and the addition of ABS. FYI, the R25 produces 35.5hp (26.5kW) at 12,000RPM with torque rated at 22.1Nm at 10,000RPM. While the R3 is pushing 30.9 kW (42.0PS) @ 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm (3.0 kg-m) @ 9,000 rpm. This actually translates to 14.3% increase in power and 25.3% increase in torque!
I like the one in red of this MT-03 as it shows it muscle and works well with the overall of the bike than the usual Race-Blu of the Yamaha colour.
The multi-function meter is retained and this prove to be an easy fit for this bike.
The engine with 321cc are said to be all-new engine by Yamaha, but we think this is the same one fitted to the R3.
The fuel tank can be filled up to 14 liters of fuel for that long distance riding. The tank is made to look big as tank are also usually related to the ‘shoulder’ of the bike. It must look tough.
The rear section shows the familiar tail light construction as used on the YZF-R25 / R3. The addition of the rear pillion handle makes it easy for the pillion and also to stand the bike in double-stand.
The one Race-Blu is looking good too.
You can choose the one in black too if you want to be a little different than the rest of the crowd.
