2016 Triumph Bonneville Street Twin introduced by Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd from RM 55,900* (without road tax and insurance)
The all-new 2016 Triumph Bonneville Street Twin has arrived in Malaysia. Autohrised Malaysian importer and distributor Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd recently announced the model’s availability and its starting price of RM55,900 (6% GST included without road tax and insurance).
Triumph introduced its new generation Bonneville family to the world in October last year with the this Street Twin classic cruiser sitting as the entry-level offering of the range’s five new variants. Notably, the 2016 Triumph Bonneville Street Twin is in fact an all-new bike from the ground up as no parts and components from the previous Bonneville are retained here.
The most notable improvement here is the retro bike’s adoption of a new liquid-cooled 900cc parallel-twin engine that generates 54hp and 80Nm of peak torque. The mill is paired with a new five-speed transmission that also boasts a slipper assist feature. Besides the increased power and torque figures, Triumph also claims that the powertrain is 36% more fuel-efficient than its predecessor.
The 2016 Triumph Bonneville Street Twin underpins a bespoke new chassis design and gains with new tyre and wheel sizes as well. Up front, tyre and wheel sizes now measure 100/90 R18 from its predecessor’s 110/70 R17 while the rear gains new 150/70 R17 sizing – larger than its predecessor’s 130-section measurement here.
The new Street twin also weighs 11kg less as it tips the scales at just 198kg dry. Seat height stands at a decent 750mm while the 25-degree rake and 102.4mm trail promises improved handling abilities.
Highlights in the features list include alloy wheels and ABS as standard features. Additionally, all new Bonneville models are upgraded with newer and modern LED taillights with this new Street Twin being no exception. There’s also an under-seat USB charging port plus an LCD instrument display that complements the analogue speedometer.
Five paint scheme options are available – Jet Black, Phantom Black, Matte Black, Silver, and Red – with Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd also stating that it will offer the model’s extensive catalogue of over 150 accessories plus its three custom ‘Inspiration Kits’ – Urban, Scrambler and Brat Tracker.
